Hummer 3 Alpha General Motors

POWERTRAINS
The H3 was launched with a 3.5 liter straight-5 cylinder L52 engine that produced 220 hp (160 kW) and 225 ft·lbf (305 N·m) of torque and was mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission. In 2007 this engine was replaced by 3.7 liter LLR that produced 242 hp (180 kW) and 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m) of torque, figures that were revised in 2009 to 239 hp (178 kW) and 241 ft·lbf (327 N·m). Under revised EPA testing standards when equipped with either transmission this straight-5 engine achieves 14 mpg-US (17 l/100 km) in the city and 18 mpg-US (13 l/100 km) on the highway with a combined average of 15 mpg-US (16 l/100 km). Available solely with the automatic transmission, a 5.3 liter LH8 V8 producing 300 hp (220 kW) and 320 ft·lbf (430 N·m) of torque was added in 2008 for the Alpha model of the H3 and returns slightly lower fuel economy estimated at 13 mpg-US (18 l/100 km) in the city, 16 mpg-US (15 l/100 km) on the highway, with a combined average of 14 mpg-US (17 l/100 km).

CAPABILITIES
The H3 features a two-speed, electronically controlled full-time four-wheel drive system that is suitable for both on-road and off-road driving in all conditions, with electronic locking front and rear differentials optionally available. Like its larger sibling the Hummer H2, the H3 can ford 24 inches (610 mm) of water (tested in depths up to 31 in/790 mm) at a speed of 5 miles per hour (8.0 km/h) and 16 inches (410 mm) of water at a speed of 20 miles per hour (32 km/h). Standard ground clearance is measured at 9.7 inches (250 mm) while the approach, departure, and breakover angles are measured at 37.4°, 34.7°, and 22.1° respectively, allowing the H3 to scale a 16-inch (410 mm) vertical wall and negotiate grades of 60% and side slopes of 40%. Though fore and aft recovery hooks are standard, a trailer hitch and wiring harness are optional.

Maximum towing capacities are 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) for the straight-5 with manual transmission, 4,500 pounds (2,000 kg) for the straight-5 with automatic transmission, and 6,000 pounds (2,700 kg) for the V8 with automatic transmission. Cargo volume with the second-row seats in the upright position is 25.0 cubic feet (0.71 m3), which expands to a maximum of 62.8 cubic feet (1.78 m3) when the seats are folded down. V8 models feature the lightest maximum payload capacity of just over 1,100 pounds (500 kg) while straight-5, manual transmission models allow the greatest payload at 1,300 pounds (590 kg).

PEUGEOT 3008

Peugeot’s all-new 3008 offers low CO2 emissions, great fuel economy and all-round performance. Due for launch at the end of 2009, the compact yet spacious 3008 offers a new choice in the UK car market. It is designed to suit any lifestyle: from sporty couples and modern families to people with a more relaxed take on life. And in a new development for Peugeot, a hybrid version will be launched in 2011.
Here’s a closer look at the 3008’s key features…

Design
The 3008 is a ‘crossover’ vehicle which means it doesn’t fall into just one category like hatchback or MPV – instead, it benefits from being a bit of both! It is based on Peugeot’s short wheelbase platform 2, giving it exceptional rigidity and excellent acoustic and vibration properties. And to reduce emissions, fuel consumption and running costs the weight of the vehicle has been kept to a minimum. For example, the thickness of the panoramic glass roof is reduced to 5mm. Yet despite this, there are no concessions on safety.

Exterior
With a new evolution in driving comes a new, modern appearance. The 3008 retains Peugeot’s design genes, yet a single front grille helps create the effect of a luxury off-roader, along with the use of a split rear tailgate as featured on the 4007. The 3008 will be available with a choice of wheel designs with 16”, 17” and 18” wheels.

Interior
The 3008 offers nearly 50-ltrs of storage space, three 12v power connections and optional sun-blinds and/or dark tinted windows for rear occupants. The passengers, like the driver, benefit from a raised seating position and ample leg room. And a panoramic glass roof means unparalleled levels of light coming into the car.

Technology
Two new systems feature in certain models of the 3008: Head Up Display and Distance Alert. The Head Up Display conveys essential information such as vehicle speed, cruise control/speed limiter. Meanwhile, the Distance Alert uses a special radar to help the driver maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Another new feature is the Air Quality Sensor (AQS). This automatically adjusts if a high level of outside pollution is detected. Peugeot’s in-car entertainment and telematics systems will also be available on the 3008 range.

Engine options
Six engine options will be available between launch and the autumn of 2009.

Safety
Using the latest technology, the 3008 is designed to achieve a five star rating under the new 2009 EuroNCAP standards. Features include six airbags, a three-point inertia reel seatbelts and an audible fasten seat belt warning system. The two outer rear seats are also fitted with Isofix child seat mountings.

HYbrid 4 Technology
Peugeot’s HYbrid 4 technology is still under development. The first vehicle to be equipped with the technology will be the 3008. This hybrid crossover is due for launch in 2011.

BMW 3 Series Touring

The exterior of the BMW 3 Series Touring.
The curved front section with wide wind intake vents and the elegant shape of the headlights deflects wind in all directions as it passes the flexed arch of the bonnet with its poignant character lines that taper towards the emblem. Accelerating as it moves over the long curving lines of its gently sloping rear with BMW-familiar L-shape taillights, it then disappears as quickly as it arrived - the BMW 3 Series Touring continues on unperturbed leaving wind resistance far behind.

The interior of the BMW 3 Series Touring.
One glance inside the cockpit and across the distinctive dashboard and you immediately know that within the BMW 3 Series Touring hides a realm of discoveries: interior trims in fine wood, titanium or aluminium compliment the perfectly combined colours, materials and high-quality chrome trim that underscore the generous spaciousness inside the vehicle. However, you would be forgiven for overlooking the intelligently positioned instrument dials - they are simply placed where you expect to find them.

Spaciousness in the BMW 3 Series Touring.
Compact on the outside, generously spacious on the inside, the BMW 3 Series Touring provides all of its passengers with plenty of leg- and headroom. When the rear seat is in an upright position, the boot possesses 460 litres of stowage space. However, the rear seats can be split to fold down in a 60:40 ratio, increasing the total boot capacity of the vehicle to an impressive 1,385 litres. An additional stowage compartment is located underneath the boot floor that is available with luggage fasteners or a reversible liner and integrated protective cover.

MOTO GUZZI BREVA 750

This particular ‘baby’ of the Moto Guzzi range takes its name from the wind that blows over Lario to disperse the clouds and announce the arrival of fair weather. Contemporary and eye-catching from the first glimpse, the Breva 750 is also unmistakably a Moto Guzzi, combining a sleek, anatomical tank, with classy three spoke wheels and a mean looking belly pan. Easy and intuitive to ride, the Breva 750 inspires you with instant confidence. Compact dimensions, a comfortable sitting position and great manoeuvrability make this baby Breva agile in city traffic and great fun on country roads, solo or with a passenger. Merit for this amazing agility is shared between the short wheelbase for easy leaning and rapid direction changes, and the rigid, double cradle frame in high strength steel tube for precision control and instant yet fluid response to the power provided by the fuel injected engine. Its easy ride and contagious good looks make the Breva 750 tremendously appealing to lady riders too. There is even an optional lower seat in the generous range of accessories dedicated to the Breva 750. The colour schemes also reflect the dual soul of the Breva 750, with traditional Guzzi Black and Corsa Red available alongside a trendy black and silver two-tone colour scheme, new for 2007.
