PEUGEOT 3008

Peugeot’s all-new 3008 offers low CO2 emissions, great fuel economy and all-round performance. Due for launch at the end of 2009, the compact yet spacious 3008 offers a new choice in the UK car market. It is designed to suit any lifestyle: from sporty couples and modern families to people with a more relaxed take on life. And in a new development for Peugeot, a hybrid version will be launched in 2011.
Here’s a closer look at the 3008’s key features…

Design
The 3008 is a ‘crossover’ vehicle which means it doesn’t fall into just one category like hatchback or MPV – instead, it benefits from being a bit of both! It is based on Peugeot’s short wheelbase platform 2, giving it exceptional rigidity and excellent acoustic and vibration properties. And to reduce emissions, fuel consumption and running costs the weight of the vehicle has been kept to a minimum. For example, the thickness of the panoramic glass roof is reduced to 5mm. Yet despite this, there are no concessions on safety.

Exterior
With a new evolution in driving comes a new, modern appearance. The 3008 retains Peugeot’s design genes, yet a single front grille helps create the effect of a luxury off-roader, along with the use of a split rear tailgate as featured on the 4007. The 3008 will be available with a choice of wheel designs with 16”, 17” and 18” wheels.

Interior
The 3008 offers nearly 50-ltrs of storage space, three 12v power connections and optional sun-blinds and/or dark tinted windows for rear occupants. The passengers, like the driver, benefit from a raised seating position and ample leg room. And a panoramic glass roof means unparalleled levels of light coming into the car.

Technology
Two new systems feature in certain models of the 3008: Head Up Display and Distance Alert. The Head Up Display conveys essential information such as vehicle speed, cruise control/speed limiter. Meanwhile, the Distance Alert uses a special radar to help the driver maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front. Another new feature is the Air Quality Sensor (AQS). This automatically adjusts if a high level of outside pollution is detected. Peugeot’s in-car entertainment and telematics systems will also be available on the 3008 range.

Engine options
Six engine options will be available between launch and the autumn of 2009.

Safety
Using the latest technology, the 3008 is designed to achieve a five star rating under the new 2009 EuroNCAP standards. Features include six airbags, a three-point inertia reel seatbelts and an audible fasten seat belt warning system. The two outer rear seats are also fitted with Isofix child seat mountings.

HYbrid 4 Technology
Peugeot’s HYbrid 4 technology is still under development. The first vehicle to be equipped with the technology will be the 3008. This hybrid crossover is due for launch in 2011.
